What Is A Fourth Amendment Workplace?

Defending Our Workplaces & Our Rights
ICE and other federal agencies are creating widespread fear and confusion.
Our workplaces can use simple steps to restore confidence in local businesses as places of refuge.
A 4th Amendment Workplace uses legally vetted protocols to:

✔  Identify invalid ICE warrants
✔  Secure private employee areas
✔ Document unconstitutional actions
✔ Defend all workers, no matter their immigration status

why we’re standing up

Unconstitutional searches have taken place in Newark, Memphis, Tupper Lake NY, Kansas City, Spring TX, Kennett Square PA, St Louis Park MN, among others
These arrests are disrupting local economies, forcing some businesses to shut their doors and hundreds of workers’ families to suffer the sudden loss of a primary income earner and caregiver
Thousands of workplaces depend on over 30 million foreign-born workers, and on the 48 million foreign-born consumers who spend $1.7 trillion and pay $652 billion in taxes
Illegal searches and seizures undermine public safety and might lead federal agencies to expand their warrantless incursions into our private lives and further erode our Constitutional rights

When people come into Scuppernong we want them to feel comfortable and like this place is theirs.

It's important to say things out loud. It's important to name things as they happen.

Every small business connects with a community. And that community is often looking for a connection, a place where they feel comfortable.

If you don't say something, the implication is you agree

I think at the core what small businesses can do is say that we treat people like human beings, whoever they are, and hopefully we treat our staff that way, and hopefully we put forth the idea that we treat everyone who walks in our door that way too.

It is our responsibility to create the communities that we want to live in, and we do that with the way that we show up every day: to our work and to the people that we interact with day in and day out.

If we want a diverse and inclusive community, it's up to us.

My food philosophy is about erasing borders, and our hospitality philosophy is based on empathy.

None of us can do it alone. We need each other, and we need it to be a collective voice.

We can't afford to be silent in the face of blatant violations against human rights.

If we work cooperatively as small businesses together, the more businesses that are involved, the less scary it becomes. We become a stronger force together.

Fighting Back Together

Fourth Amendment Workplaces is a project of the Defend & Recruit Network, which was started in 2025 by Siembra NC to bring together local groups around the US experimenting with new strategies to both defend immigrant communities and build broad alliances that neutralize attempts by wealthy oligarchs to divide us from each other.
